Past Simple - Regular Verbs
O Past Simple é o modo de se falar sobre eventos ou estados que já foram concluídos no passado. Normalmente, usamos o Past Simple com algumas palavras de referência , como por exemplo :
yesterday , last week , two weeks ago, two year ago
Example : We played volleiball every week in the summer . I studied a lot last week .
Para formar o Past Simple dos verbos regulares , temos que adicionar ED à forma infinitiva .
examples : start - started , kill - killed , jump - jumped .
Alguns verbos regulares no entanto, têm regras especiais para soletrar a form do passado . Se o verbo termina em E , apenas adicionamos D .
agree - agreed , like - liked , escape - escaped
Se o verbo terminar em uma vogal e uma consoante, dobramos a última consiante.
stop - stopped , plan - planned
Se o verbo termina em Y retiramos o Y e acrescentamos IED .
try - tried , carry - carried

Past Simple - Negative and Interrogative
como vimos anteriormente, formamos o passado simples adicionando ED à forma infinitiva do verbo .
Example : I studied a lot last week
danny walked home last night .
Agora veremos como formar períodos interrogativos e negativos . Para fazer perguntas utilizamos o Past Simple utilizamoso auxiliar DID
Example : Did you travel last summer ? ( Observe que o verbo principal está no Presente )
Forma Negativa
Para fazer as negações utilizando o Past Simple , usamos a construção DID NOT ou a contração DIDN´T .
